FAQ on Object
Management Workbench General Functions
Q1 - How Do I Generate or Copy a Table
Table
Generation and Copy table are now features in the ‘Design’ Action Button in
Object Management Workbench.
In the
Design Mode, under the Table Operations tab, the Generate Table, Generate
Indexes, Copy Table, and other tools are available.
In
OneWorld release Xe, you no longer need to check-out a table to go into design,
you only need to add the table to your project, which does not check it out.
However, if you plan to go into Table Design and make changes, you will want to
first check-out the table.
Q 2 - How Do I get the HTML Page to
Show Up on the News/Status Tab?
In order for these HTML screens to come up, the
Paths to the Media Objects on the Deployment Server must be complete. To check
these, type in the Media Objects Application - P98MOQUE in the Fast Path or
access the application from menu GH9016 on a workstation.
The Work
with Media Object Queues form will come up. Click on the FIND button.
In the second column called “Queue path On-Line”,
there are entries pointing to the MediaObj directory on the Deployment Server.
However, some of the entries contain the name “SERVERNAME” instead of the
deployment server name. You will need to add the Deployment Server name in for
the Queue Name ‘ObjectManagement’. After you close and restart Object
Management Workbench, you will see the correct HTML screens:
If after updating the path in the Media Object
Queue program, the information still displays blanks and garbage characters on
the News/Status page, there may be a problem with the glossaries of the Data
Dictionary Items where the information is stored. To see additional information
on how to correct the glossaries of these Data Dictionary Items, refer to
document ott-01-0023.htm .
Q3 - What OneWorld Tables does Object
Management Workbench Use?
The Object Management Workbench tables are kept in
the System – B7333 Datasource.

Q 4 - How do I Object Transfer from
Pristine?
New Projects are started at a Status 11 - New
Project Pending Review. OneWorld is delivered to allow a Project to be advanced
from a status 11 to a status 45 – Pristine Get. There are no Object Transfer
Activity Rules for the Status change from 11 to 45, so objects will not move
between data sources or path codes with this project status change. Once the
project is in a status 45 – Pristine Get, the user will then add the Object(s)
that they desire from Pristine, to the project. You can then do a check-out or
a Get to bring the Pristine specifications down to the local machine
Q5 - What Object Management Workbench
Changes are cached in OneWorld?
The Object Management Workbench Setting for a user
Default Project is cached by OneWorld. After making changes to Activity Rules
or Allowed Actions for an existing User Role on a Default Project, you will
need to exit OneWorld and then restart it.
Q6 - What are the Different Delete
Options Available when you Delete an Object?
When deleting an object in the Object Management
Workbench, there is now a list of different delete options available:
The Delete
Object from Server check box, will delete the Object Specifications from
the Server depending on the Object Transfer Activity Rules for the Project
Status you are in. The Delete Object
Locally check box, will delete the Object Specifications from the local TAM
specifications on the workstation upon pressing the OK button.
The Delete
Object from the SAVE Location will delete the Object from the SAVE LOCATION
from whatever Path Code is represented by the Project Status you are in.
The Mark
Object to Be Deleted from Transfer Locations will place a flag on the
Object. As the Object passes through each Path Code throughout the Promotion
Path, the object will be automatically deleted from that path code. For
Example, if you wanted to remove an object from OneWorld, you could create a
project and advance it from 11 to 21 – Programming. In 21, add the object to
your Project, then highlight the object and press the DELETE button. If the
Delete button is not available, then you are not on the project with a Role
that has an Allowed Action of Delete for the object type you are trying to
delete. When the Delete screen comes up, select the Mark Object To Be Deleted
so that the object will be flagged to be deleted. You will also need to select
the Delete Object from Server to delete the object from the current Development
Path Code. Then advance the project from 21, to 26, to 28, to 38. The object
will be deleted from the Prototype and Production Path Code.
The Remove
Object From ALL Locations, will delete the object from the Server depending
on the Object Transfer Activity Rules for the Project status you are in, it
will delete the specs locally, it will delete the object from the SAVE
location, and it will mark the object to be deleted from the Transfer Locations
which will delete the object as the project is advanced.
Q7- When Accessing Object
Management Workbench through a Citrix Connection, How can I Stop the
Application from Flickering?
This is an issue with how Citrix
handles particular form types within OneWorld. By setting the Citirx connection
to use 16 colors this problem is eliminated. Go into the properties for the ICA
connection at the workstation and change options for Windows Properties to 16
colors. If it is set to Use Custom Default, then change the Custom Connection
Settings to use 16 colors.
Q8- When Highlighting an Object
in Object Management Workbench, I Only Have Blanks or Invalid Characters
Display on the News/Status Form?
The information that displays on the News/Status
form when focusing on an object or project comes from the Data Dictionary
Glossary for Data Dictionary items 136U, 142Z, 143A, and 146V. If the glossary
information is missing on these data dictionary items, then no information
displays on the News/Status page in Object Management Workbench. To resolve the
issue, the appropriate glossary must be added to these data dictionary items.
Q9- What are the Differences
Between the Get Button on the Center Toolbar and the Get Option that is a Row
Exit in Object Management Workbench?
The "Get" button on the Center Toolbar
retrieves the specifications for an object from Central Objects to the local
workstation path code based on the activity rules specified for the Get
function for the project's status. For example, if you have a project at a
status of 21, the activity rules will be defined for a "Get" to
retrieve the specifications of an object from the development path code
(DV7333). The "Get" button provides a way to look at the current
specs of an object from the server without requiring the object to be
checked-out. The "Get" option available as a row exit in Object
Management Workbench is used to get the specifications of an object from any
path code or data source. When you highlight an object and select the "Get"
button from the row exit, for Object Librarian objects, a list of path codes is
displayed to select the desired path code and for non-Object Librarian objects
a list of data sources is displayed. This "Get" function can be used
to select the desired path code and is independent of the project status.
Q10 - When Trying to Delete an
Object, I am Getting an Error that the Object Exists in an Open Project?
This indicates that the object you are trying to
delete exists in another project that is not at a completed status. To find the
other projects where this object is located, from within Object Management
Workbench, take the Form exit for Search by Object. Put in the Object Name in
the first column (examples: P01012 for Address Book Revisions or
R0006P|XJDE0001 for a specific version). All projects in which the object
resides in will be displayed. Remove the object from all open projects other
then the one where you are performing the delete, and then try the delete
again.
